Strawberry Agua Fresca - A Bright, Refreshing Drink You Can Make in Minutes

Prep Time 10 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes
Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 pound (about 450 g) fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 3 to 4 cups cold water, divided
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons granulated sugar or honey, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (optional but recommended)
  • Pinch of sea salt (optional, enhances flavor)
  • Ice, for serving
  • Fresh mint or basil, for garnish (optional)
  • Extra strawberry slices or lime wheels, for garnish (optional)

Method

  1. Prep the berries. Rinse the strawberries under cool water. Remove the stems and hulls, then slice them in half to help them blend smoothly.
  2. Blend the base. Add the strawberries to a blender with 2 cups of cold water. Blend on high until completely smooth, about 30–45 seconds.
  3. Sweeten and brighten. Add the sugar or honey, lime juice, and a small pinch of salt. Blend again for 10 seconds. Start with less sweetener and adjust later.
  4. Strain (optional but recommended). Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a large pitcher, pressing gently with a spoon to extract the liquid. This step removes seeds and pulp for a cleaner sip.
  5. Adjust with water. Stir in 1 to 2 more cups of cold water, depending on how strong you like it. Taste and add more sweetener or lime if needed.
  6. Chill and serve. Add ice to glasses, pour the agua fresca, and garnish with mint, basil, or a slice of strawberry or lime. Serve cold.
